Last night I went along to the Cardinal Place Roof Garden in Victoria for a rooftop yoga session in the sunshine! I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate (what I hope is now) summer! The roof is found within Create Victoria, a space filled with shops and restaurants, just an escalator ride up from street level.
Jo Arthur, who I’ve met before at the Power Yoga Co., Paola’s Body Barre and Sweaty Betty events, led us through an invigorating and relaxing yoga session, filled with sun salutations, warriors, balances and savasana. Her beautiful assistants, including Emily Cohen and Mona Heep, helped us all through our practice, pushing us to our strongest poses and relaxing us on our mats at the end.

It felt lovely to be looking up to a clear blue sky during our reverse warriors, instead of a boring old studio ceiling, and I’m definitely going to be looking for more classes outside now the summer has finally arrived and both the mornings and evenings are lighter and milder. Even the light breeze was refreshing during our more intense poses, although it added an extra core challenge when in our tree balance poses!

After a beautiful hour-long practice we thanked Jo and her assistants, Sweaty Betty for providing our mats, L’Occitane for the lovely massage oils used at the end and Wagamama who kindly refueled us with fresh juices after the event. We also went home with a lovely goody bag!

If you’d like to give yoga on the rooftop a try, the next event is being held on Wednesday 24th June, 6.30pm and with Wimbledon just around the corner, it will be tennis-inspired! If you can’t make it, simply grab your mat, find a spot outdoors in the sunshine and take up your practice. Breathe in the fresh air and smile, summer is here!

Namaste!
