You know you’re a true Scot when the rain pours down and you’ve never wanted to pull on your trainers more. The weather last week was truly dire with rain, rain and more rain. It did let up for a cheeky rooftop yoga session on Tuesday morning and on Saturday when Nige and I escaped the city to explore the trails of Boxhill, Surrey. Yesterday I also tried out a new yoga studio in the city, Yotopia, and fell in love with the style of teaching of the beautiful, Danish Josephine McGrail.

Aside from long country walks and relaxing yoga here’s how week 12 went down:
Monday
am: Reformer pilates @ Absolute Pilates 
pm: Speed session with Fulham RC 
*30, 20, 10* – 30 secs slow jog, 20 secs at 10k pace, 10 secs flat out sprint – x 4, 2 min recovery. Repeat x 4 sets. 
5 mins out and 5 mins back, steady 5k pace aiming to get back to start position within the last 5 mins. 
Tuesday 
am: Yoga on the Rooftop of John Lewis, Oxford Street. A 45 minute flow yoga session led by Steffi White, flipping our dogs to stare up at the blue, cloudless sky before enjoying juices from Joe and the Juice.
Wednesday 
am: Cardio Barre Core with Paola at Paola’s Body Barre 
pm: 6 mile tempo run with Fulham RC, knocked out sub-8 min/miles along a slight detoured 3 bridges route along the Thames after a day of continuous rain. 
Thursday 
am: Blast class at Lomax, a full-on cardio and resistance filled circuit class.
pm: Yin yoga at Evolve

Friday 
am: A non-starter attempt at my long run, postponed for the bank holiday Monday.
pm: 5k run commute to Chillout Yoga at Slice Studios.

Saturday 

8 mile walk around the Box Hill Hike circular route starting and finishing at National Trust Centre.
Sunday 
pm: Hot Yin Yoga @ Yotopia. My favourite class of the week, I’d never tried hot yin before but was hooked listening to Josephine take us through our practice.

An ok week in terms of cross training but I am feeling that sometimes my classes are taking priority over my running. A new week and as today is a bank holiday I made up for my lack of long run on Friday by doing a 13 mile loop up to Richmond Park this morning, in the pouring rain! The focus of the next few weeks will be running as I’m away on holiday up north for a wedding and a trip to Knoydart. No gym, no classes, just enjoying the Scottish outdoors in September and crossing our fingers for some drier, sunnier weather!
