I’m a pretty strong willed and independent soul but even I struggle to get the best out of myself when I train on my own. When life gets a little busy and I need to focus all my attention on work – or at the moment, job applications – I rely on putting myself into group training sessions with my running club, London running communities and fitness classes.
Here’s who I can rely on to help me sail a little more swiftly through a busy schedule when training could suffer but I choose not to let it –
Fulham Running Club
We train twice a week, Tuesdays are our interval sessions and Thursdays are a longer, more social paced run. Both set off from Nuffield Health on Stevenage Road at 6.45pm.
Wild Trail Runners
I’ve been slacking from WTR sessions of late but this is my reminder to get back with them next week. This friendly bunch run hills from Holland Park station, 7pm on Mondays.
Paola’s Body Barre
Paola and her team are back as permanent residents in Fulham and her classes are my favourite way to work up a sweat first thing, usually at a TRX Barre class. You can find them on Fulham Palace Road in the same space as Bootcamp Pilates and Nati’s cafe, perfect for your post-workout coffee.
Reformer Pilates at Frame
I love the challenge of a Reformer, a slightly tougher Pilates class with added resistance and my favourite studio to go to is Frame in Victoria. Tucked away behind the station is this amazing space also with a cafe, all the changing space and showers and another studio room for HIIT training and Barre.
Yoga at Another Space
There’s something about the space of Another Space – ironic – that makes me feel instantly calm, even before I’ve stepped into the yoga studio. The classes here are always incredible and have a lot of trust in the teachers and their practice that makes me want too keep going back to their haven in Covent Garden.
This weekend I’m racing the Cancer Research UK Tough 10 at Boxhill – one of my favourite races from last year – and Nige is taking on the challenge too! Anyone else getting involved?
Next Saturday (25th November) I’m running with the Wild Trail Runners crew on their monthly trail adventure from Coulsden South station at 9.30am. Weronika has a 12/23km trail run planned and I can’t wait to get back with the gang and run together! Join us if you can!
