I’m flying to Venice, Italy today ahead of racing the Cortina Trail on Saturday and I thought I’d share what’s in my suitcase –
As I’m a little paranoid about airlines losing baggage, even though it’s never happened before, I’ve packed all the essential race kit list in my carry on luggage –
To wear on race day – Sweaty Betty Ultra Run sports bra, Kalenji t-shirt, Nike shorts, Stance socks, Inov8 Roclite 295 shoes and a visor
In my race pack (Salomon S Lab 5l with whistle) – OMM waterproof jacket, Gap long sleeve, Nike capris, Nike gloves, Buff, emergency foil blanket
Fueling – 2*500ml Salomon soft flasks filled with High5 hydration mix, Nkd bars, Tribe bars, Pip and Nut almond butter sachets
I’m also carrying Black Diamond trekking poles and wearing my very basic Garmin Forerunner 10 watch (I need to upgrade, Garmin or Suunto?)
The poles are going in my hold luggage – just in case Easyjet think they’re weapons – and in my suitcase I’ve also packed some race day must-haves – Vaseline, sun cream, spare contact lenses and my tried and tested pre-race breakfast – oats, almond milk, raisins and Twinings Earl Grey tea (yes I’ve packed tea bags).
The race starts at 8am on Saturday morning so wish me luck and let me know NOW if I’ve forgotten to pack anything!
