October Update

nslOctober is almost over and with it comes the changing of the clocks, some brighter mornings, but a real chill in the air as we approach the Winter months. If I look back to my goals for this month, I can tick off the season opener of the cross country as well as one of my longest runs with Tribe as part of my training for tomorrow’s ultra. Oh yes, the ultra. Hopefully the next blog post I write will be my race report of the Jedburgh Three Peaks Ultra, 38 miles of trails around the beautiful Scottish Borders, my home, and my biggest challenge yet. I’m a nervous ball of excited energy at the moment in preparation with my one goal to complete it with a smile. Fingers crossed.

In the lead up to the race, I’ve taken my foot off the running and focused my attention on yoga. All the yoga. I signed up to 21 days of yoga at my local studio in Hammersmith, Lumi Power, and can look back on it with a real sense of achievement. In 21 days I took a total of 18 classes, mostly 6.30am Hot Power Yoga, mixed with a little Sunday evening yin and playful Friday night Funk and Flows. I’ve loved it and can honestly say I will miss it now my Intro Offer has ended.

There’s so much to look forward to next month though…

  • Trying out new local yoga studio YogaWorks in Wandsworth with the girls
  • Wingman-ing at Singles Night at Ride Republic, spinning following by wine!
  • A zombie-style Halloween run club with FRC
  • Fireworks for Bonfire Night with FRC friends in Bishops Park
  • Birthday celebrations for Never Stop London – a day out full of adventure

…and that’s just the first week of November! So much more to enjoy!

I’m slightly jealous of my girlfriends who are escaping to Thailand for 10 days mid-November, ok they’re going mainly to race a triathlon, but the sunshine, the warmth, the ocean, the adventure! I think I need to book a little Christmas/New Year/Big Birthday (!) getaway to look forward to. Any ideas?

For now though here’s to enjoying Autumn in full, with lots of races on the weekends to look forward to, and embracing the cold, crisp weather – perfect for running!
