I cannot believe it’s July! Where did June go and have we really had a month of British Summer already? There’s been so much rain and many a thundery unsettled sky, and the only bit of runners’ tanline I have to show off is from some unwanted Scottish sunshine when I raced the Seven Hills of Edinburgh last weekend!
Let’s forget the unpredictable weather though and focus on the coming month with Wimbledon excitement, some Summer racing and escaping for some Greek sunshine and heat. Today I’ve pulled together some more of my favourites – you can catch up on the last batch here – and shared them with you in the hope you can discover, re-discover or find inspiration in my most-loved things of the moment.

Summer race calendar
Last week I posted a list of my upcoming races and on Sunday I ticked off the Seven Hills of Edinburgh, one of my favourite races of the whole year (thank you to photographer Matt for the shots from Arthurs Seat!) Next week is the last of the Wimbledon Trail Races and then I have to rediscover my love of map reading for the OMM Lite and get my speedwork up to…speed (!) for the two Mile races in Battersea Park.
Paola’s Body Barre monthly membership
After finally deciding to cancel my ClassPass membership (due to an unjustified price increase) I took up a two month membership at one of my favourite studios in Fulham, Paola’s. It offers me all the variety I need, from boxing, HIIT, barre and yoga classes on offer, and is so local I can run along to a 6.15am class and be back for breakfast before my walk to work. So far I’m still loving my Monday morning Boxerina class with Helen, HIIT and Tone classes with Kim and also the Power Yoga, a perfect Thursday evening de-stress and stretch.
Carrot cake bircher muesli
Despite the clouds, the temperatures in London have been climbing and so my usual morning porridge has been shunned for overnight oats or, if I’m feeling fancy/have time/it’s the weekend, bircher muesli. I’ve been playing around with recipes and adding new ingredients into the usual oats and almond milk mix, and so far carrot cake is a winner, for obvious reasons! Just grate a few carrots and some orange zest in with the oats, with some ground ginger and cinnamon, raisins and sunflower seeds, mix it all up with your chosen milk and leave it in the fridge overnight. Delicious!
Carrot cake bircher muesli for the win! I'm not sure where this creation came from but when you have left over @abelandcole carrots, pop 'em in your overnight oats with a bit o spice, orange and raisins and voilà! Delicious brekkie for Thursday. #abelandcole #veggies #recipe #healthy #ideas #blog #blogger #foodspo #carrots #carrotcake #muesli #birchermuesli #breakfast #breakfastinbed #restday #thursday
Abel and Cole Fruit and Veg box
Our weekly delivery from Abel and Cole has changed up mealtimes in our house recently, with flatmate Sophie and I taking it in turn to use some of the fresh fruit and veg to make each other dinner. So far I’ve rustled up some lovely risotto with fresh broad beans and lots of nice salads for our lunchboxes and Soph has been on a mission to try a new Hemsley and Hemsley recipe every week! Success.
Sweaty Betty sale
Girls, get online or to your nearest store asap. Those leggings you’ve been lusting over for months are now half price, get ’em while they’re still hot! I popped into the Edinburgh boutique while I was home at the weekend and picked up the Upbeat Padded Workout Bra for a bargain price.
Gap yoga attire
High street stores are killing it with their selection of active wear right now and I’ve been loving the fit and quality of items from H&M, New Look and even Primark, but a cool aqua coloured duo of leggings and a strappy tank from the Gap Fit range recently took my fancy and I’ve been wearing them to my yoga classes ever since.
Miss Selfridge Petites range
Not activewear related, but with summer occasions and weddings fast approaching I am once again led back to my trusty friend Miss Selfridge and their petite range to make me look semi presentable and not like I wear lycra all day every day. I used to think Miss Selfridge was more suited to a younger audience with vibrant colours and skimpy designs, but recently I’ve warmed to them again and always find something I love when I need it for a special occasion.
So, here’s to a drier July and soaking up some London sunshine! Finger crossed! As always, let me know what you’ve been loving and can’t live without right now, I love hearing your recommendations and they might even feature in my next monthly favourites!
