Running on the Scottish sands: Gullane Bents

On
Saturday, Nige and I drove out of the city towards the east coast and found
ourselves in Gullane, a small town famous for its beaches and sand dunes,
perfect for an off-road run together.
With
this blog in its baby stage, we decided from the offset that we would be taking
a lot of photgraphs on the run, so this post is mainly a photo diary! You’ll
see mostly Nige’s efforts of skilful camera work and some shots of mine
trying to capture the action of sand dune jumping.
Stopping
so much to take in the scenery and get the perfect shot, we were out for over
an hour but only managed to do about five miles. It was a beautiful morning
though as you can see from the sunshine and clear skies, and somehow there was
very little wind, surprising for the east coast of Scotland in March!
Sprinting along the long stretches of untouched sand and scrambling over the slippery rocks was such a pleasant change from pounding the London streets and it makes me appreciate my home so much and the freedom and fresh air it brings.

Where will your run take you next?
Oooft, showing me how its done!
Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh, just visible in the distance
Well done Amy, nice camera work.
Leap of faith, this took a few attempts!

It's pretty hard to beat the Scottish coast, look out for another glimpse of running heaven from the Irish mountains coming soon though!
